Islam

  1. Meaning: Submission to One God

  2. Follower: Muslims

  3. Founder: Muhammed Ibnu Abdalla


Shahadah

Meaning:

•The testimony of faith

•“I bear witness that there is no god But God and Muhammed is His Messenger “

•Must be recited when one revert or convert to Islam


Salah/Salat

Meaning: Ritual Prayer

Before praying:

•Adhan: the caller of prayer

•Wudu: washing of the hands, feet, arms and legs

Performed 5 times a day

  1. Fajir: Starts of the day with remembrance of God; Performed before sunrise

  2. Dhuhr: Midday

  3. Asr: Late afternoon

  4. Maghrib: After sun goes down

  5. Isha: Night time


Sawm( fasting)

From sunrise to sunset during the month of Ramadan


Ramadan:

•Ninth month in the Islamic calendar

•Islamic calendar

•Based the cycle of moon.

•29-30 days


Refrain from smoking, sexual activities, gossip, fighting, lying


Who doesn’t fast? Sick, pregnant women, children, Menstruation women, etc.



Zakat

•Charity

•Obligatory

•Giving 2.5% Charity of One’s wealth each year to benefit poor

•Based on income

•obligatory


Hajji

•Pilgrimage to mecca to promote the bonds of Islamic brotherhood and sisterhood

•Every ethnic group, color, social status, and culture gather together in Mecca.

•everyone is equal in the eyes of God

•Wear simple white clothes called Ihram.

•Muslim visit mecca at least once in their lives if they can afford it and are physically able.
